I tried to do this earlier. I remember all the good times we had playing board games as the “Longacre Bunch”. The big boards Dick made for 8 of us. All the fun at Pickwick and boating . Getting lost in the fog, dock drinks and midnight riding. Glad we had those days together. I wish you well Joann. Days don’t get forgotten, just great memories. Jo

What a great time we had at Union Planters. The jokes, the pranks - the real laugh out loud good times. We were a real crew- one for all and all for FUN!! Some work when we could squeeze it in. I hope the rest of the angels like jokes.

I have many fond memories of times we spent together while he was employed at First Tennessee Bank and many years past then when we would meet up for lunch. You could not ask for a better person, friend or co-worker. Love, hugs and prayers for JoAnn and the kids.

So many of life's most cherished memories for Helaine and Mike are those early days with our friends on Longacre Ave and Ruskin Road. We met Jere, JoAnn, JoLen and Jill through our next door neighbor and Jere's close friend Joe Davis. It was the best of times for us and we miss everyone very much.

We will particularly miss Jere and his upbeat personality and his loving joy for family and friends. We will never forget those midweek planning meetings for some really good parties, and those times at Pickwick Lake, listening to the early morning rain on the trailer rooftop (with coffee in hand), and to Willie Nelson's Stardust Album in the boat late at night (with Jack Daniels in hand).

There are unforgettable trips too. Our group of Tennessee Squires made the annual journey to Lynchburg on President's Day, fishing the White River in Arkansas, skiing (and gambling) at Lake Tahoe where it snowed over 30 inches every day, the Korbel Winery tour, and a wonderful time taking in the sites of San Francisco. And I almost forgot the trip that Jere, Joe and I made to change oil in my car. Somehow we ended at O'Dell's for drinks...sorry, I really don't remember much after that.

Our last time to see Jere was a year and a half ago as his illness had taken hold. Even then, and as always, Jere was cheerful and a joy to be with. Jere and Mike enjoyed our final Jack together and thanks to JoAnn and her beautiful photo books, we recalled some of our life's really great memories.

We feel blessed to be among those who called Jere their friend. May he rest in peace.

With Love,
Mike and Helaine MacPhail
