Jerry D. Stewart

Jerry D. Stewart, 80, of Germantown, passed away on September 3, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe W. and Jewel Light Stewart. He leaves behind, his loving wife of 60 years, Elaine Stewart, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mark Brant, son and daughter-in-law, Don and Beth Stewart, four grandchildren, Michael Gafford (Candace), Stewart Gafford (Erica), Jeremy Stewart, and Anna Stewart, three great-grandchildren, Elaine Gafford, Knox Gafford, and Monica Normand, and a brother, Meryl W. Stewart (Maxine) of Leesburg FL. Mr. Stewart was a long time member of Central Church and a Master Mason and Member of Unity Lodge, Scottish Rite and Al Chymia Shrine Temple. Mr. Stewart graduated Tech High School in 1950 and then joined the U.S. Navy in 1951. After he was honorably discharged, he joined the Memphis Police Department. He retired 26 years later as Executive Capt. in Uniform Patrol at West Precinct. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Central Church 2005 East Winchester Boulevard, Collierville TN., from 11:30am-1:30pm with a funeral starting at 1:30pm. Burial will follow the service at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church or Methodist Hospice.
