Jeslyn Jackson Sammons, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. Born February 8, 1941, in Senath, Missouri, Jeslyn grew up in Doniphan, Missouri, before making Memphis, Tennessee, her home in 1963.
Jeslyn dedicated 22 years to Buckeye Technologies Inc., where she served as an Executive Assistant in the International Sales Department until her retirement. Known for her leadership and community spirit, Jeslyn was actively involved as President and Board Member of Stage Park Meadows Homeowner’s Association, serving her community for 32 years. Her commitment to her neighbors earned her the Neighborhood Leader of the Year Award from the City of Memphis in 2004. Always concerned with the appearance of her neighborhood, Jeslyn could often be seen picking up trash off the street and pulling weeds not only in her own yard but occasionally in neighbors' yards as well. Jeslyn was also a devoted Core Group Leader in Community Bible Study, sharing her faith and wisdom with many. She was a long-term member of Bellevue Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Children's Sunday School teacher and as a Volunteer Hostess for the church.
Jeslyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Sammons of Hickory Withe, Tennessee, and her brothers Marvin Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Larry Jackson of Doniphan, Missouri. She is survived by her children, Pamela Moghbel (Keyhan Moghbel) of Novato, California, Michael Matthews of DeLand, Florida, and Laura Leigh Smith (Johnny Smith) of Memphis, Tennessee, her brother Hal Jackson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Moghbel (Mackenzie) of San Francisco, California, and Shelby Lynne Smith Myers (Brody) of Como, Mississippi. Jeslyn is also survived by two great-granddaughters.
Family and friends are invited to honor Jeslyn's life at Memphis Funeral Home, located at 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, Tennessee, on July 29, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM.
Jeslyn will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered always for her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to family and community.
