James “Jim” Thomas Appling, 66, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband and father. He was born July 27, 1948 in Memphis to William R. and Ector Appling. He graduated from Nicholas Blackwell/Bartlett High School in 1966 and Memphis State University in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane Appling, his son, Justin Appling (Samantha), sister, Gail Appling Dixon, and her children, Drew Lewis (Stephanie) and Celeste Dixon, as well as a host of family and cousins. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, February 18 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. The funeral will be Thursday, February 19 at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
