John Robert Bailey born in Memphis, Tennessee on June 19th, 1986 passed away on November 27th, 2021 at the age of 35. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Savoie Streeter and step mother, MegAnn Streeter of Counce, Tennessee; sister, Sara Jeannette Myers of Chesapeake, Virginia; and his father,
Robert Alvin Bailey of Coldwater, Mississippi.
John was raised in Germantown, Tennessee and graduated in the class of 2004 from Houston High School. He completed two years of college at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. John moved to Counce, Tennessee in 2010. He made his living as a Second Mate on a tow boat. He received his Merchant Mariner Credential in 2017 and was working to achieve his boating pilot license. He was formerly employed with AEP River Transportation and Hines Furlong.
John enjoyed sports as a young boy he played basketball on the Germantown Community Center Leagues and received his black belt in Taekwondo. As an adult John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, kayaking, and off roading in his Hummer. He felt most in tune with himself with a fishing rod in his hand alone on Pickwick Lake. John had a generous heart and a love for animals. John battled with drug addiction for many years. This was not something he wanted in his life and he tried to fight it by enrolling himself into rehab programs through the years. He would always say, “No one wants to be an addict”. John lost his battle with drugs. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in John's name to a drug recovery center of the donor's choice.
Family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday, December 6th at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will follow at 2:00pm.
