John D. “Papa John” Simmons, 82, of Eads, TN passed away on Sunday, October 18th 2015. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Evelyn Simmons Ward. Mr. Simmons is survived by his loving wife, Lanelle Simmons, three sons, John D. Simmons, Jr. ( Cindy), Steve Simmons (Wanda) and Alan Simmons (Mary), four grandchildren, Dr. Amy Ward-Brock (BJ), Emily Markle (Patrick), Ashley Woodruff (Ryan) and Joshua Simmons (Cynthia), two great-grandchildren, Ira Brock and Henley Woodruff, and two special friends, Linda Hunt and Angela Matthews. Mr. Simmons was a retired Lt. for Memphis Fire Dept. He was a member at Fisherville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, October 20th from 6-8pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd.
