John Edward Daigle, 77, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather lived a bountiful life before going to be with the Lord on January 12th, 2026. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born August 2, 1948 in Lafayette, LA to Vernon Edward Daigle and Helen Krueger Daigle, where he was one of seven children. Growing up, John was a gifted 3-sport athlete (baseball, football, and basketball) who attained Hall of Fame status at U-High in Baton Rouge as well as the Junior College Hall of Fame. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Education from Southern Illinois University, where he pitched in the College World Series. John also earned a Master's degree in Education from the University of Arkansas while serving in the Air Force. Afterwards, he pursued a career in teaching and coaching in the Memphis City Schools for 10 years before transitioning to athletic uniform sales.
Throughout his life, John's love for baseball never withered as he later became the Director of Operations at USA Stadium in Millington, TN for 20 years. During his time at USA Stadium he oversaw Team USA operations and directed countless college and high school tournaments along with other community events. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing (with the latter being his favorite) and he shared that passion with his friends and family. After retiring, he helped open the Memphis Pyramid Bass Pro and worked in their fishing department for 10 years. Throughout that time, John thoroughly enjoyed connecting with people and helping others by sharing his love and knowledge for the sport.
John (Johnny) was a kind man, with a warm soul, and dearly loved by all who knew him. He will always be remembered for his captivating stories, teachings of generational recipes, love for spending time with family and friends, and his indubitable pride in being an LSU Tigers fan.
John is now reunited in heaven with his beautiful wife of 55 years, Barbara Jones Daigle. He is lovingly survived by his 6 siblings: Mike Daigle, Bob Daigle(Darlene), Diane Ellis(Donnie), Janice Turner(Billy), Cathy Jordan Jeff), and Bill Daigle(Peggy); he was also predeceased by Rosie(Mike).
He leaves behind a legacy carried on by his 3 children: Blake Daigle (Kelly), Aimee Mills(Doug), and Jessica Allen(Jeff); along with his 4 grandchildren: Madison Mills(Paul), Barrett Mills(Sammi), Haylie Mills, and Easton Daigle; and 2 great grandchildren: Lennon Mills and Jude Mills.
John will forever be loved and missed, but always remembered when you hear his favorite phrase, "GEAUX TIGERS!"
