John Earnest Hellums

John Earnest Hellums, 86 of Johnson City, TN formerly of Memphis passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 in Johnson City. He was retired from MLGW and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Dept. Mr. Hellums was born January 15, 1928. John deeply loved his family and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will always be remembered by his kindness and an unlit cigar in his mouth; his jovial spirit will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Hellums was preceded in death by his wife, Edna E. Hellums; a son, Michael L. Hellums; and is survived by his son, John E. Hellums, Jr. (Phyllis) of Gray, TN; sister, Mavoureen Edwards; daughter-in-law, Brenda Hellums of Middleton, TN; grandchildren, John E. Hellums, III (Stacy) and Dustin Phillip Hellums and a great-grandson, Jack Hellums. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N.
