Karen Annette Hudson

Karen was born January 14th, 1974 in Houston, TX to Don and Sandra Johnson. She and her sister, Christine, grew up in a loving household in Bartlett, TN. She attended Bartlett High School, class of 1992, and was involved in competitive cheer from the time she was 8 through her senior year of high school.

She acquired her Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Memphis, where she met her ex-husband, Preston Hudson. The two married on August 24, 2002 and built a family together. She continued her passion of cheer in becoming a coach for young girls (3rd and 4th graders) in the Bartlett Youth Sports organization where she accomplished 4 National Cheerleading Championships. Through her bold leadership, she changed many lives in her career until her passion changed the day she became a mother. She was a devout parent to her two children, Alissa and Carter Hudson. Her devotion and love to her kids was never wavering, even through a divorce, her first cancer diagnosis in 2017, and her mother’s passing in 2019. She became an active member of Trinity Baptist Church to give her children a Christian environment to grow up in. While her kids were entering their teenage years, she spread her love to the animals of the community by fostering dogs through Happidog Rescue since 2020. She completed her work career with Chris Woods Construction who were very supportive as she battled cancer. Her supportive and strong-willed nature never ceased as she came close to her final breath. The memory Karen left full of nurture, strength, and love of all things silly is continued through her children, sister, father, and all those she inspired in her lifetime.

Your compassion and adoration made us into the people we are today and your faith in God through all the challenges in life will be admired through generations. You will be greatly missed.

Karen was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sandra Meggs Johnson, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos L. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Meggs; Uncle David Brasell, and Aunt Mary Jean Johnson. She is survived by her loving family; children, Alissa Hudson and Carter Hudson; father, Don C. Johnson; sister Christine Richards (Anthony); niece Page Richards; Aunts and Uncles, Terry Meggs (Beverly), Martha Brasell, Tony Meggs (Tollie), Dr. Jim Johnson; many cousins Angie Cooper (Richard), Kendra Reinbold (Johnny), Wes Brasell, Jeanne Hope Johnson, Margaret Johnson, Missy Beck(Chris), Andy Meggs (Rachel), and Lucy Rickman (Brent); as well as many extended family members, special family Paul Malone, and the Hudson Family. She will be deeply missed by all of her family, friends, and four legged fur babies.

Karen’s children Alissa and Carter, sister, Christine, and father, Don, would like to invite all those who loved her to celebrate her life on February 8th at Trinity Baptist Church (8899 Trinity Road, Cordova, TN 38018). Visitation will be held at 2pm and the service at 3pm. A celebration will be held at Lakeland Golf Club (formerly Stonebridge Country Club) beginning at 5:30pm.
