Kenny was born on January 7, 1955 to Floyce & Murnie Burroughs. He graduated from Kingsbury High School and then joined the United States Navy in October of 1973 until 1979 as an Avionics Technician.
After serving in the Navy, he was employed at RCA Cylix as the head engineer. Several years later he went on to WorldCom and then Enron where he retired as Vice President of Operations. Then he started his own business Internet Associates developing software for the United States Government that is still being utilized today.
He was an avid, die-hard UT Football Fan. He enjoyed his mountain home in Clayton, Georgia where he would go hiking in the mountains, all-terrain vehicle riding. In Memphis his favorite past time was playing guitar with his son. Additionally, he played golf and frisbee-golf, enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, water skiing and gardening. Kenny was a Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Nascar fan who's favorite tracks were Daytona, Atlanta & Talladega. As "grandpa" he enjoyed going to the theme parks in Orlando, Florida with his grandchildren.
Along with his parents Kenny is preceded in death by his brother Ellis Burroughs and sister Eara Lou Davis.
He is survived by his children April Michelle Edwards of Orlando, Florida and Douglas Michael Burroughs of Memphis, Tennessee; three sisters Shirley, Karen and Sue; and five grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 17 from noon until funeral services begin at two o'clock in the afternoon all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133.
Any financial offerings in Kenny's honor should be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
