

Kenneth Hue Gaines, 88, was born August 2, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee, and died June 11, 2026. He lived in Bartlett, Tennessee. Throughout his life, Kenneth was known for steady dedication, a straightforward honesty, and a quiet way of putting others first—qualities that shaped both his work and the care he showed to those around him.
Kenneth built his career with AT&T in telecommunications, approaching his responsibilities with diligence and reliability. In every season of life, he carried himself with integrity, earning the respect of colleagues, friends, and family alike through consistent effort and a principled way of living.
Away from work, Kenneth found enjoyment and peace outdoors and on the water. He loved fishing and hunting, and he also valued time spent traveling—especially on cruises—embracing the simple pleasure of seeing new places and sharing those moments with others.
Kenneth H. Gaines is survived by his son, Kenneth M. Gaines and wife Jerri; his grandsons, Rory M. Gaines and Rex J. Gaines; his younger sister, Lanell Wylie; his younger brother, David Gaines; his nieces and nephews, Rob Goodman, Sissy Crocker, Holly Rixie, and Ashley Painter; and his special friend, James Farrish. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tommye Ruth Gaines, and his sisters, Carolyn Carter and Juanita Black.
Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, on June 18, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
