Ken devoted much of his life to serving the Lord and ministering to others. Throughout his years in ministry, he pastored churches across Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee, sharing the Word of God and offering spiritual guidance to those entrusted to his care. His greatest gifts were teaching Scripture and ministering to the sick and afflicted. He had a compassionate heart and a genuine concern for others, always willing to offer comfort, encouragement, and a helping hand to those in need. His faith was not simply something he spoke about; it was something he lived out through his service and love for others.
In addition to his pastoral ministry, Ken worked for 18 years as a funeral associate with Memphis Funeral Home. In this role, he continued his calling to serve others, providing care and support to families during some of life's most difficult moments.
After retiring, Ken and Linda moved to McKinney, Texas, to be near their daughters. Although he had retired from his professional work, his love for the Lord and His Word never wavered. He continued to sit under the ministry of Chuck Swindoll in Frisco, Texas, remaining connected to the biblical teaching and fellowship that meant so much to him until his health began to decline. His steadfast faith remained the foundation of his life.
Ken also had many interests that brought him joy. He and Linda were avid gardeners who took pleasure in growing an assortment of vegetables. He had a special love for trains, a passion he brought to life by transforming his garage into an entire train station. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding happiness in the outdoors and in the simple pleasures of life. These hobbies reflected the many sides of Ken and the things that made him uniquely himself.
Above all else, Ken loved his family, and his love for his wife, Linda, was especially dear to his heart. Married for 65 years, Linda was his queen, and he made sure she knew it. He called her his queen and treated her like one, honoring her with a love and devotion that endured throughout their life together. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to lasting love, commitment, and companionship.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Linda Vincent; his children, Douglas Vincent, Sheila Collins (Bill), Trish Carlley (Eddie), and Steven Vincent (Betsy); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. His legacy of faith, compassion, and love will continue through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his years of ministry and service.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his grandson, Jay Carlley; his brother, Jack Vincent; and his sister, Jo Ann Cousar.
Ken lived a life devoted to the Lord, marked by faithful service, a compassionate spirit, and a deep love for his family. Whether he was teaching God's Word, visiting someone in need, tending his garden, enjoying his trains, or spending time with those he loved, he left his mark through the life he lived and the love he gave. Though he will be deeply missed, his faith, his example, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The words of II Timothy 4:7–8 offer a fitting reflection on Ken's life and faith:
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
Ken fought the good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. May the promise of God's eternal love bring comfort to all who mourn his passing, and may his life continue to inspire others to walk in faith, serve with compassion, and love wholeheartedly.
