Larry Julian Broy, 80, was born March 4th, 1938 in Corning Arkansas to James and Ruth Julian Broy. He died January 5th 2019. Larry grew up in south St. Louis, Missouri with his sisters Margie and Christy. He was active in Church, Boy Scouts and played drums in his junior and senior high school bands. He would continue playing drums and the harmonica throughout his life, at numerous venues in St. Louis to support himself while attending school, and ending at Bartlett Senior Center in his older years. He had a love of playing and listening to music.
His first marriage was blessed with 2 beautiful daughters, Laura and Helen.
He attended St. Louis City Hospital, School of Nursing, graduating in 1963 as a registered nurse. He met his future wife Marie, a fellow nursing student, at the school and they married in October 1963.
Larry and Marie joined the Army Nurse Corp in October 1964, and attended officer basic training in San Antonio Texas before beginning their first assignment at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver Colorado. In August 1965 they departed by ship to Qui Nhon, Vietnam to serve for a year with the 85th Evacuation Hospital.
After returning to the states and finishing their time with the Army, Larry began working as a product manager of medical devices with four different companies - Aloe Medical in St. Louis, Zimmer in Warsaw, Indiana, Snyder Medical in Canton, Ohio and finally, Wright Medical in Arlington, Tennessee. He then returned to nursing until his retirement in 2003.
He was a long time Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troops 459 and 27, shepherding his 3 sons to the rank of Eagle Scout. They spent many years together on their monthly camping trips.
Larry is survived by his wife Marie, daughters Laura (Roger) Clark, Helen Borgmann, sons Gregory (Stephanie) Broy, Franklin TN, Michael (Courtney) Broy, Franklin TN, and Joseph (Trisha) Broy, Arlington, TN; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and sister Margie Hammill, New Hempshire.
