Laura Belle was born on May 28, 1929 to the late Mary Parr and Joseph Cullen Lowry. She was a lifelong Memphian, Laura, also known as “Lala” to all who knew and loved her, was a member of First Evangelical Church, Memphis, where she worshipped and served in many capacities and was also a proud member of Bible Study Fellowship, Laura was happiest when being with and caring for her family, celebrating life with her Birthday Club, and most of all spending time with her husband Don and the many lifelong friends they made as members of Colonial Country Club. In addition to her husband, she leaves one son, Michael Whitman Cook and wife Jennifer of Oxford, England, and one daughter, Karen Leigh Cook of Germantown, TN. Lala was the beloved grandmother of four: Josh Cook and wife Nalee of Nashville, Phillip Cook and wife Renee of Memphis, Minor Cook Pipes of Memphis, and Michael Whitman Cook, Jr of Radley College Abington, England and four great-grandchildren Lucas Cook, Elena Cook and Lydia Cook of Memphis and Ailani Cook of Nashville.
A visitation for Laura will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends and relatives to make a donation to the charity of their choice.
