

Marcus Eugene “Gene” Leet, 87, of Bartlett, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2016. Gene was born in Marked Tree, AR to the late Robert Franklin Leet and Cora Alice Barnes. Gene retired from Life Insurance Company of Georgia, was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Roundtable for insurance sales, and also served many years as a Special Assistant to the Judge for the Shelby County Juvenile Court. He was a member of the Berclair Masonic Lodge #771, a Shriner, a member of Disciple of Christ Christian Church, and an accomplished ballroom dancer. Gene was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Daggett and Robert Corday, two sisters, Rea Neiswander and Snookie Billingsly, and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Jesse R. Leet, and the mother of his five children, Mary Lou Bannon. His children are Stephen Leet (Elizabeth), Ed Leet (Lea), Glen Leet (Sue), Janet Harvill (Jim), and Mark Leet (Diann). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends the evening of Thursday, May 26 from six until eight o’clock at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN.
