Our beautiful friend Peggy was born in St. Louis, MO, to her adoring parents, Evelyn and John Gasko, who welcomed her to Heaven, along with her sister Patricia Gasko, and her brothers John, Richard and Gerald Gasko.
Peggy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She graduated from St. Elizabeth Academy in St. Louis, and from Christian Brothers University in Memphis. Peggy’s many talents were exhibited at a young age. She was a gifted singer who starred in several high school productions, and was selected as Homecoming Queen in both high school and college. Her charm, wit and creativity served her well in her career in Sales and Sales Management for Revlon, Beiersdorf, and Kodak. Peggy enjoyed cooking, entertaining, art and travel, and spending time with her cherished granddaughter, Braylie. She will always be remembered for her beauty, style, and devotion to her family and friends.
Peggy met the love of her life, William K. Wertz, in 1982. Peggy and Bill were married on the beach in Maui at sunset in 1987. They lived in Memphis, Fairfax, VA and Atlanta, GA before finally settling in Memphis. They traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and many international locations. Their devotion to one another, their family, and friends continued until Bill passed away in 2016.
Peggy leaves her sister, Christine “Tina” Victor, her stepson and daughter in law, Bracken and Alicia Wertz, her granddaughter Braylie, her sisters in law Jane Gasko and Carol Gasko, and her nephews, John and Jim Gasko. She also leaves a host of lifelong friends who will miss her forever.
There will be a private burial for family. Memorials may be sent to the ASPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MemphisFuneralGermantownParkway.com for the Wertz family.
