Marie Peel 97, of Arlington, Tennessee, Affectionately known as “Mama” or “Grandma” or “Aunt Marie” Graduated to glory on Monday morning.
She has now joined her late husband, Chaffee Peel, who passed in 1999 and her oldest son, Dr. William C. Peel, Jr., who died in 2009.
Born Martha Marie Britton on October 28, 1921, to the late Guy Britton and Tiny Vanderford In Kerrville, Tennessee, she married William Chaffee Peel, on June 29, 1940 and raised two sons.
She is Survived by her youngest son, Robert Britton Peel and his wife Barbara, who treated her like a queen and took excellent care of sacrificially, along with Barbara’s children Tasha and Patti.
She is also survived by her only Grandson, David Britton Peel (the only child of Dr. Billy Peel and Brenda Jo Griffin Peel)
and David’s wife, Tricia, and their children (her Great Grandchildren) Megan, Collin and Britton Peel, whose wife Delaney just delivered her Great-Great Grandson, Camdyn Britton Peel, just 4 days before she passed.
Her beloved nephews include Mike Wiseman (Peggy), Dickie Wiseman (Debra), David Wiseman, Rodger Wiseman (Sandy), Tommy Peel, Jeff Peel, and Richard Peel.
And she also leaves her only surviving sibling, her sister, Tina Ruth Britton Abramowitz of Ft. Myers, Florida.
Marie Peel survived the remainder of her siblings, Arnold Britton, William Herschel Britton, Lorene Britton, Lucian Britton and Mildred Britton Herndon.
Throughout her life, Marie loved and cooked for much of Arlington. She loved her two boys and grandson and was always glad to see all of her nephews, their wives and their kids. She was never without a story to share.
When Millie joined her in Arlington they became Arlington’s “Golden Girls” and perfected the sibling rivalry they had been practicing for almost nine decades.
She was the most giving soul most will ever meet.
