

A native Memphian, Mary Katherine was born to Newton J. Gardner and Cassie Katherine Randolph Gardner. She leaves behind a family that grieves her loss but rejoices in the reassurance of seeing her again.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Dawn Dalton (Chuck) and Dana Long; grandchildren, Ryan Dalton (Katelyn), Richard Dalton (Hope), Christian Long (Meg), Joshua Long (Marlowe Rae), and Sara-Grace Katherine Neel (Colton); great-grandchildren, Harper Katherine Dalton, James Dalton, Weller Dalton, Daphne Dalton, Addeline Rae Long, Lowen Elizabeth Long; and her brother, Major General Donald R. Gardner (Elaine). Mary leaves behind many others she chose to call family
.
Mary Katherine, a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, was most known for her abiding faith, unwavering love for people, and incredible strength.
Outside of the family, she served as the bookkeeper for East Memphis Orthopedic Group for 42 years before retiring to become a full-time Meme.
If not on the sidelines supporting her children/grandchildren, you could find Meme cheering for the Memphis Tigers, Memphis Grizzlies or enjoying a weekend at Pickwick Lake.

A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
