Mary Evelyn Fisher

Mary was born February 20, 1933, in Haywood County, TN, to Lester Joe Blaylock and Clara Ovie Blaylock (née Cole). She grew up near Maury City, Tennessee, and attended Crockett County High School, where she was a member of the women's basketball team that won the county championship in 1950.

After graduating from CHS in 1950, she married Robert Winfred “Wink” Fisher, one of her senior classmates, also of Crockett County. They moved to Memphis in 1957 and were married for 67 years until Wink passed away on October 18, 2017.

She was a loving mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked many years as a church secretary and also worked for the IRS. She dedicated much of her time to serving in the church and teaching Sunday school.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Joe Blaylock and Clara Ovie Blaylock, her husband Robert Winfred “Wink” Fisher, her brother Lester Joe Blaylock Jr. of Brownsville, TN, and her sisters Juanita Crossnoe of Bells, TN, and Augusta Maynard of Maury City, TN.

Mary is survived by her two loving daughters, Judith Ann “Judy” Hogan (Timothy J.) of Arlington, TN, and Ginger Carol Abberger, widow of Joel T. Abberger, of China Grove, NC; her sister, Dorothy Leggett of Gadsden, TN; her grandchildren, Tracy Domino (Andy) and Anthony “Tony” Mitchell (Jennifer), both of Arlington, TN; Michael Abberger (Heather) of China Grove, NC; Amy Running (Dean) of Silverwood, MI; and Matthew Abberger (Libby) of Clinton, MI; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life with family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Visitation will begin at 9 AM, followed by the service at 10 AM.
