Mary Elizabeth Bell Vest, born March 30, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee to John and Stella Bell passed away September 16, 2017. She was a retired housewife and devoted mother to her son, Jim, grandchildren and great grandchild. Mrs. Vest enjoyed visits with her family and friends, loved trips to the zoo and picnics. She was stronger throughout her life than anyone ever knew, was an inspiration of personal determination and will be deeply missed. Mrs. Vest was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years, James Arthur Vest (deceased 1987); siblings, Paul Bell, Lucille Bell Stephens and Lena Bell. She is survived by her son, James Alan Vest (Joan); grandchildren, James Daniel Vest, Emily Vest Born (Marco); great-grandchild, Scarlett Born; nieces and nephews, Buddy Bell (deceased), Ann Bell Huggins (Anthony), John Stephens and Linda Stephens; great nephew, Wade Huggins. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN with a graveside service to follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN.
