She is survived by her loving children; Joy S. Sandefur (John) and Joseph L. Slater; grandchildren Joshua Sandefur (Sarah), Rachel S. Vance, Michelle Songstad (Randy), and Stephanie Coleman (Britt); great-grandchildren Arwen Liora Sandefur, Ander Joshua Sandefur, Dalton Story, Carson Coleman, and Brady Coleman.
Meral lived her life loving and enjoying birds in her back yard, while interacting with her furry babies (cats) and giving them love to the fullest. She always expressed and let her family know her deep love for them. From her children, grandchildren, siblings, and their children, she loved and cared for them.
Mrs. Slater thoroughly enjoyed playing the piano and singing, but most of all she loved the Lord with all her heart and knew Jesus!
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday, January 31st at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, located at 3700 N Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. The funeral services will immediately follow at 2 PM, also at Memphis Funeral Home. The family will host a catered reception following the service.
A graveside committal service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens Saturday February 2nd at 2PM. The cemetery is located at 1591 Gadsden Hwy. Birmingham, AL 35235
