

Michael Wayne Ackerman, 70, of Arlington, passed away on May 10, 2026. Born on June 22, 1955 to Fred Ackerman and Beulah "Bea" Jobe Ackerman, he lived a life defined by quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering reliability.
A proud Commander in the United States Navy, Michael served his country with distinction. His steadfast character and sense of duty left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Following his military service, Michael began a second career as a FedEx pilot, where he continued to exemplify professionalism, dedication, and calm leadership until his retirement. Whether serving his country or flying across the world, he was known as someone others could always count on.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his daughter, Jennifer(Robert); his son, Taylor; and his cherished grandchildren, Paxton and Gianna, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Michael was a quiet but steady presence in their lives—like a rock—always there when needed, dependable through every season. His grandchildren will remember his gentle spirit, steady guidance, and the love he showed through both words and actions.
His family will cherish the stability, love, and example he provided. A private service will be held to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his name to Fisher House Foundation, the charity that provided invaluable support and housing to the family during Michael’s first heart surgery.
Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, US, on May 22, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the Funeral Service to follow at the same location on May 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm. Committal will be scheduled at a later date.
