

Michael John Martello, 63, passed away February 10, 2015. Michael was employed by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation 18 years as an Information Technology Specialist. He worked as General Services Manager at the Regional Medical Center and adjunct professor at Shelby State Community College in phlebotomy and at State Technical Institute in Information Technology. Mike worked as an Affiliate Broker for DeCaro Realty Inc.; in sales for Wurzburg Brothers; as General Manager for Kelly Springfield; as District Manager for Pepperidge Farm and as a medic in the U.S. Army Reserve.
He was respected and loved by many friends all over the country through both his employment and volunteer involvement. Many people were the recipients of Mike's gracious help and his upbeat attitude.
Michael was a dedicated volunteer giving many hours to a large number of organizations at the local, regional and national level including Hope Presbyterian Church Men's Fraternity. He was a former member of the Men's Club and a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Rosary. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Mensa International.
Mike was a graduate of St. Anne on Highland Class of 1965 and Catholic High School Class of 1969. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1975 and attended law school at Memphis State University. He completed a master's in business and accounting at Christian Brothers University graduating magna cum laude. He also earned an associate degree in Information Technology from State Technical Institute.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela Bickers Martello, daughters Lana Fowler (Brandon), Susan Shade and former son-in-law Michael Shade. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren Nicholas Fowler, Victoria Shade, and Farrah Fowler and his mother-in-law Margaret LeMay Bickers. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A., Sr. and Rosina C. Martello and his sister Barbara Esoldi of Memphis. Mike is also survived by his sisters, Toni Martello of Memphis, Susan Hackney (Joe) of Eads, Pamela Bryant (Rick) of Memphis, Carolyn Hooker (Henry) of Memphis and brothers Joseph A. Martello, Jr. (Paula) of Memphis and David C. Martello of Memphis and John Esoldi (Barbara) of Memphis and a host of nieces and nephews. Also, Uncle Louis Martello (Joyce) of Metaire, LA, aunts Janet Martello of Metairie, LA, Joan Grindlay of England, Joyce Courtneidge of England, Gina Arnold of England, and a host of cousins in the US & England.
Visitation will be held beginning at 9:00AM followed by a memorial mass at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 8151 Poplar, Germantown TN, Saturday, February 14, 2015. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude, Our Lady of Perpetual Help or Hope Presbyterian Church.
