

Michael Reilly McGuire, 18, of Bartlett, TN, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014, after a brief illness. He was on a soccer scholarship to Belmont Abbey College in NC. His homegoing celebration will be 6 pm Thursday, August 28, at Bartlett Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 4. Private burial will be Friday, August 29.
He was born in Amarillo, TX, on February 5, 1996, to Jeff and Donna McGuire. He is also survived by his sisters, Abby and Nikki McGuire, and his brother, Jeffrey (Boomer) McGuire, his grandparents Mike and Pat Ford of Bartlett, grandmother Cheryl McGuire of Albuquerque, his great-grandmother Lois Daniels, and his large extended family, coaches, and beloved friends.
Michael played soccer for Collierville Lobos, Tennessee Soccer Club, and the Tennessee ODP. He was also a 4-year varsity starter at St. Benedict at Auburndale, where he was voted captain, All-Metro, and Defensive MVP. He was a 4-year scholar athlete and a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Rho Kappa, and also served as a Senior Retreat Leader.
He has volunteered his time with TOPsoccer, at the soup kitchen, Race for the Cure, and as a rec leader in the children’s department of Bartlett Baptist Church each summer.
