Michael E Moretta

Mike was born December 1, 1941 to Theresa Faccaro Moretta and Ernest Moretta Sr. in Memphis, TN. He grew up working in the family-owned WeOna grocery store. After attending Christian Brothers College, he spent most of his career in retail. He then became self-employed for the remainder of his career. Mike never met a stranger, which showed in his ability to befriend people from vacationing at a Las Vegas casino to selling candles at the flea market. He loved sharing his stories of growing up with his family, of his school days, and of his dreams. Mike was also proud of his Italian heritage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Camille Moretta; and his brother and sisters Frank Moretta, Sr., Betty Krupicka, and Louise Payne.

He leaves his wife, Judy; two children, Denise Watson and husband David of New Berlin, WI and Michael Moretta, Jr. of Bartlett; and two stepchildren, LeAnne Moore and husband Dennis of Ashland, MS and Tim Huffman and wife Renee of Waterford, MS. He leaves his brother Ernest Moretta, Jr. and wife Patricia of Collierville, TN. He leaves his grandchildren Paul Watson (Erika), Megan Watson, Anthony Moretta (Megan), Kaleb Moretta (Lauren), Jacob Moretta (Ali), Justin Moretta, Scott Moore (Ashley), Cody Moore, Sarah Beth Huffman and his great-grandchildren. He also leaves many longtime friends and acquaintances.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens and service will immediately follow at 10 a.m.
