Murrel grew up in Covington, TN, married the love of her life in 1941, and became the mother of eight children. She was a Godly Christian mother, a long time member of Merton Avenue Baptist Church and later of Brunswick Baptist Church.
She was happiest serving her Lord in church activities and watching her active children and grandchildren playing sports. Her faith and her family were most important in her life, and she set a wonderful example for her large, loving family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Murrel is survived by her beloved husband of 79 years, Charles Edmon; six daughters: Carolyn Little, Patsy Rhodes, Martha "Mot" (Jerry) Hankins, Joan Channell, Sandra Hunsucker, Sheila (Rey) Bermudez; daughter-in-law, Jennie McCommon; and a host of grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Eddie McCommon and Mike McCommon; two grandsons, Mark Wade and Clay McKinney; and one great grandson, Bubba Wade.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12pm with a celebration of Murrel's life at 2pm, on Friday, May 21st, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway Bartlett, TN 38133
