Heaven gained an earthly hero on January 27, 2021, as Nickesha Renee Kirk (Kesha), of Horn Lake, MS, closed her eyes to this world for the last time. Born on February 19, 1981, Kesha was 39 years old.
Kesha graduated high school and went on to college to study in the field of nursing. Kesha loved others like God told us to love – sacrificially and with all your heart. Her focus turned to her family and friends, and she remained selfless, strong, brave, generous, loving, and beautiful (inside and out) until she took her last breath. Her priority was always someone other than herself. So many received her grace, and sometimes, brutal honesty, always given with the intent of sharing God’s grace and planting seeds for others to follow.
Her beautiful life will always be cherished by those surviving her. Her husband, Gregory Kirk of Horn Lake, MS, her children, Brieana Colson, Nicholas Wiley, Bradley Luna, Kamryn Kirk, Angela Kirk, Kael Sidelinger, her mother, Alice (Ricky) Kitchens of Bartlett, TN, her granddaughter, Ivy Harper, and her sisters, Tiffany (Tim) Martin of Puryear, TN, Maria (Nick) Mielnik of Franklin, TN, Katie Kitchens of Crenshaw, MS, and brother, Wayne Kitchens of Crenshaw, MS. So many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family. To Kesha, everyone she came in contact with was her family. There is not enough space to list the names of lives she touched.
Kesha believed that the angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hands of God.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves lives a memory no one can steal. We can hear Kesha speak these words for each of us to adhere: “I shall pass this way but once. Therefore, any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again.”
In lieu of flowers the family would request you consider making a contribution in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
