Born November 13, 1929, in Alamo, TN.
Entered her Heavenly home on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leon Puckett and Eunice Hodge Puckett; by her first husband of 45 years, William “Bill” M. Helms, her second husband, Houston M. Chandler (7 years), and by her sister, Faye P. Parker.
Peggy was a longtime member of Wells Station Baptist Church where she was heavily involved in the Children’s department teaching Sunday school. She worked in the mail order department at Sears Roebuck & Company, retiring from there in May 1987 after many years. Some of Grammy’s hobbies included cross-stitching, gardening, traveling, and spending time making memories with her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Terry M. Helms of Memphis, TN; her daughter, Sherri Hyatt (Allen) of Searcy, AR; five grandchildren: Derrick M. Helms, Matthew M. Helms, Heather B. Hyatt, Allison R. Hyatt, and Andrew J. Hyatt; her sisters, Sarah F. Lapham and Mary Alice Alred, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mrs. Chandler will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by the graveside service.
