Peggy Ann Metcalf, age 84, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026. Born on April 11, 1942, in Water Valley, Mississippi, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cared deeply for her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing basketball throughout high school. As an adult, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she built a 35+ year career as a head waitress at Shoney's. She was known for her warm, welcoming spirit and her ability to make everyone feel cared for and at home. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-reading, gardening, and bird watching-and she especially loved spending time with her cats. She had a true green thumb and took pride in creating beauty around her. Above all, she loved the Lord and lived her life grounded in faith.
She is survived by her son, Phillip; her stepdaughter, Andy; her grandchildren, DeLanna, Natalie, Dylan, Lindi, Brandy, Eli, and Jesse; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia King Wesson; her beloved husband, Delbert Metcalf Jr.; her daughter, Melissa; her stepchildren, Larry and Robert; her sisters, Inez and Faye; and her brothers, Elmer, Richard, and Ray. Her life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and quiet strength, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
