Rachel was born on June 1, 1995 in Memphis, Tennessee, to Becky and Mark Lewis. Rachel accepted Christ as a young child and loved him through her adult life. She is described by the people that knew her as being one of the kindest people they have ever known. Always accepting of others regardless of social, or economic status. Never caring about status quo or "what everyone else is doing.” She was a lover of the arts, especially music, painting, and crafts, and showed great talent in all three. An interesting combination of passions, Rachel was a trained cosmetologist, car detailer, and budding mechanic.
Rachel spoke with an economy of words. Though not many, the words she spoke were witty, profound, and caring. She was physically beautiful, graceful and calming to those in her presence. Her piercing blue eyes, light hearted smirk, and giggle will be missed beyond measure.
Rachel is survived by her adoring husband, Joseph Nelms; parents, Becky and Mark Lewis; sister, Allison Lewis; and grandparents, Dan and Myrna Wilmoth. She was preceded in death by her and Joe's unborn baby not yet named, grandparents, Hans and Jamie Engelage, Ruth and Harry Lewis.
A service celebrating Rachel's life will be held, Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at
River Oaks Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1665 South Germantown Road, Germantown, TN. In lieu of flowers, Joseph has asked for donations to go to Life Choices of Memphis.
