

Raymond Earl Morton, 84, lifelong resident of Cordova, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010 at his home. He was a WW II Navy veteran, retired from Schering-Plough, historian and curator of the Cordova Community Center and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where he taught four year old Sunday school up until his death. Mr. Morton, the widower of Greta Anita Morton, leaves a son, Raymond F. Morton of Cordova; a foster son, Benny (Cindy) Richardson of Franklinville, NC; sister, Virginia Seward of Eads, TN; brothers, Alfred Morton of Ellendale, TN and Don Morton of West Linn, OR; aunt, Rebecca Morton of Bartlett; grandchildren, Ashley Nichole Weirich of Cordova, Daniel Richardson and Apryl Stinson, both of North Carolina and Margaret Wagner of Hamburg, Germany; and great grandchildren, Shelby Richardson, Skylr and Tylr Stinson, all of North Carolina. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 30 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services and interment will be at 10 a.m., Friday, October 1 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, formerly Memory Hill Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to any local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. A reception will follow the services at the Cordova Community Center on Sanga Rd.
