

Captain Robert Remmington Proctor, USN (retired), of Cordova, Tennessee died peacefully on November 7, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee after a long illness.
Bob was born on February 1, 1936 to Ralph and Marjorie (Tennant) Proctor. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln high school in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He then graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy.
After his first tour of duty on the USS Lexington, he entered flight training at Pensacola, Florida and received his Navy Wings. His Navy career included two tours of duty in Washington D.C., Had Command of VS 32 in Jacksonville, Florida, and was Navigator of the USS Kitty Hawk. His final duty was serving on the Admiral's staff at NAS Millington.
Following his Navy career, he was employed in management for a regional airline that flew out of Memphis.
Bob married Nadine Noyd in Odebolt, Iowa on February 7, 1959. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, his son Charles, and his daughter Jana, son-in-law David, and granddaughter Alexandria Bennett. He is also survived by his sister Gayle Ross, his nephews Mike and Doug Ross and their families, and many cousins.
Until his health no longer allowed it, Bob and Nadine traveled extensively. They especially enjoyed cruises, hostels, and other activities sponsored by Hillsdale College.
A memorial service will be held on Monday November 27th at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 3700 Germantown Road. Service will begin at 2 PM preceded by visitation at 1:30.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to Baptist Memorial Hospital Hospice House, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, or a charity of your choice.
