Ronald Lenward Carter, born January 24, 1951, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, with family by his side. He is reunited in peace with his parents, Marshall and Billie Faye Carter and grandmother Annie Mae Mama.
Ron was a retired electrical contractor, but his true life’s passion was his people. Balancing patience, kindness and stubbornness he led his family with grace and compassion.
Ron was a devoted brother to his siblings, Marty (Pam) Carter and Marsha (Chris) Jones and proud Uncle to Jeremy (Marlene) Barnes, Nicole (JaCar) Bray, Brandon Jones, and Taylor (Brittany) Jones.
He shared 38 beautifully crazy, wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Judy Carter. Together, they built a life defined by laughter, resilience, and unwavering support. He was a deeply loving father to his children: Jason (Erin) Carter, Adam (Grace) Walls, Carrie (David) Carter, and Melissa (Tim) Norwood.
While he enjoyed the quiet peace of being an avid backyard bird watcher, Ron was happiest when his home was full of the people he cherished. His grandchildren were his entire world, and he leaves behind a legacy of love in Jordan (Emma) Norwood, Spencer Norwood, Christian Walls, Abigail (Ethan) Deniston, Walker Walls, Allyson Carter, Jayden Carter, Lily Walls, and Jackson Carter (Grandad’s best buddy). He also recently welcomed his first great granddaughter Miller Ann Norwood into his circle of love.
To know Ron was to know a love that was big, fierce, and entirely unconditional. It was a warmth you could actually feel just by being in the same room with him. His ultimate legacy is the family he loved so selflessly.
While his family misses him deeply, they promise to honor him by doing their best every single day to model the immense love he gave.
Celebration of Life details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude.
