

He was preceded in death by his parents, George F. Van, Sr. and Minnie Van, as well as his first wife, Charlotte Van.
He was the loving husband of Cecelia Mathews Van. He is survived by his children, Marjorie L. Taylor, Katherine Davidson, Ronald P. Van, Jr., Christopher Van, and step-son, Ron McNutt.
He is also survived by his siblings, Natalie Mooi and George F. Van, Jr. He also leaves numerous grandchildren, Peter Van, Elizabeth Van, Emily Van, Matthew Taylor, Charlotte Taylor, Abigayle Van, Andrew Van, Zayden Martin, Matthew McNutt, William McNutt, and great-granddaughter, Joanna Van.
Ron enjoyed traveling in his leisure and during his twenty-five year career with FedEx. His career took him all over the world and he was fortunate enough to represent FedEx at the Calgary and Seoul Olympics. Although he loved traveling abroad, Destin, Florida was one of his favorite destinations.
He was a lifelong Cubs fan and he loved going to games in Chicago or at Spring Training in Mesa, Arizona. Ron never gave up hope that the Cubs would win the World Series.
Ron’s family and friends were important to him and he was treasured by all of them.
The family will receive friends at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN on Thursday, March 10, 2016 starting at five o’clock. There will be a rosary service the same evening from seven until eight o’clock.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at ten o’clock at Church of the Nativity, 5955 St. Elmo Road, Bartlett, TN with burial following in the Nativity Gardens of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.memphisfuneralhome.net.
