Ruby Dell Miller Killebrew, 95, of Collierville, TN, died on June 16, 2022. She was born October 5, 1926, in Weakley County, TN and was preceded in death by her parents, Grover C. Miller and Elizabeth Hicks Miller, her sister Ione and her brother Glenn. Also preceding her in death were husband Charles E. Killebrew and daughter Jerri E. Harper.
She is survived by son Kerry E. Killebrew (Barbara), son-in-law John E. Harper, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four nieces. Ruby and “Charlie” graduated together from Dresden High School in 1944, were married in 1945, and enjoyed 68 years together until Charlie died in 2013.
Ruby was a computer programmer beginning in the mid-to-late 1950s at Mallory Air Force Depot in Memphis and worked in the computer field for about 30 years. She loved basketball and was a dedicated University of Memphis basketball fan.
Ruby made many special friends playing bridge at the Lightman Bridge Club and achieved Life Master status. She actively supported her local bridge club with financial contributions and regular attendance both in person and online.
Her Christian faith was very important to her, and she was active in church all her life until failing health required her to attend church online. More special friends were those in the Builder’s Sunday School class at Bartlett United Methodist Church where she was a member for many years. She recently became a member of the Collierville United Methodist Church, whose pastors ministered to her faithfully in the last few months of her life.
Memorials may be sent to the Collierville UMC (454 W. Poplar Ave, Collierville, TN 38017) building fund (We Are All In/Poplar Sanctuary) or to the Lightman Bridge Club ( 8180 Sedgwick Wy STE 102, Memphis, TN 38125).
Family and friends will gather at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on June 20 from 9 -10:15 a.m. for visitation and 10:30 for a graveside service. A memorial service will be held at a later date when more family will be available to attend.
