Sandra Ann Meggs Johnson passed away peacefully on November 4, 2019. After a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer, she is now resting easy in God’s kingdom. Sandra fiercely loved her family as a dedicated, loyal and loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, Christian and friend. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Don Johnson, daughters Christine Richards (Anthony) of Eads, TN and Karen Hudson of Lakeland, TN, her beloved grandchildren, Page Richards, Alissa Hudson and Carter Hudson, her sister, Martha Brasell of Daphne, AL, brother, Terry Meggs (Beverly) of Northport, AL, brother Lt. Col (Retired USAF) Tony Meggs (Tollie) of Tuscaloosa, AL, brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mary Jean Johnson of Tuscaloosa, AL and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Sandra was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on September 13, 1946. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1964. Having grown up in Tuscaloosa, Sandra was an avid Alabama Football fan and rarely missed watching a game to cheer on the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide!!!

Sandra’s grandchildren meant the world to her. She seldom missed a school program, graduation, concert, soccer, softball, baseball or basketball game. She showed her grandchildren much love through her actions and devotion leaving a legacy that will live on in the hearts of Page, Alissa and Carter. Sandra thoroughly enjoyed music, singing and playing piano. She was a devoted member of Collierville United Methodist Church and the Choir. She and Don took ballroom dance lessons to prepare for their daughters weddings leading them to a close group of friends who traveled together frequently. In years past, Sandra was involved in competitive cheerleading within the Bartlett Youth Sports organization as well as Bartlett High School. While encouraging her daughters during their years of cheering, she organized numerous fundraisers, sewed countless uniforms and even became a sponsor for a few years when her daughters started coaching. Sandra touched many lives with her undying dedication and love. The friendships she developed through all these activities were very important and long lasting.

My prayers for peace and comfort for Don and the family in your time of mourning and celebration. A wonderful Christian lady whom I am happy to have known.

Sandy and her family were great neighbors with my family for years.
Her and my mother (Pat Bryson) were great friends. They both shared interest in cheerleading for Bartlett SYS. I helped both of her girls with cheerleading and it was a blast. Sandy was so sweet.
I know her and my Mom will be reminiscing and catching up on life while in heaven together.
I will be praying for Don and the girls as they go on with their lives with Sandy in their hearts.
