Sherry Christine Howard, known to her loved ones as Sherry or Meme, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, in Bartlett, TN surround by family. She was born on December 27, 1955 in Tucson, AZ. Sherry was a beloved Wife, Mother, and Meme, who will be remembered for her love, laughter, sassy attitude, and great stories.
Sherry had a vibrant personality and was always ready for an adventure. She loved going on trips and was always up for any excursion. Her favorite place to shop was Belk, and she cherished her girls' days out. She especially loved visiting the Smokey Mountains, attending NASCAR races, going to the casino, and traveling to Arkansas and Louisiana to see her family.
As a devoted and supportive Mother and Meme, Sherry attended every single marching band competition and band concert that her grandchildren participated in as well as other sports her grandchildren were involved in. She was their biggest fan and supporter, always cheering them on. Sherry's laughter and sense of humor will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sherry was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her family's newest addition, Mr. Kaleb Allen Long, who is due in September. She couldn't wait to shower him with love and affection, hold him close to count all his little toes, and cherishing every moment with him.
Sherry's strength and resilience were unmatched. She had overcome numerous challenges in her life and faced them head-on. She had a welcoming and generous spirit, always embracing everyone with open arms. Sherry's quick wit, sassiness, beautiful blue eyes, infectious smile, and laughter will forever be etched in our memories.
Sherry is survived by her devoted husband, Ronnie Howard, who stood by her side through the highs and lows of life. She leaves her daughter Misty Boyle (Les) and grandchildren Shelby Austin (Josh), Taylor Stepp (Camron), Austin Long (Layna), and Adam Long (Ashleigh), along with her great-grandchildren Matalynn Whitmore, Jasmine Keene, Kaleb Long. Sherry's sister, Davena Latham (Greg), and stepdaughter Jennifer Long (Heath) were also treasured parts of her life as well as Her step-grandchildren Menley Long, Reagan Fink (Ryan), grandson Reece Long. Great grandchildren Mary Grace Fink and Beaux Fink.
Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Rena Pounders, father William Sanders, stepfather Harold Dye, and her husband and father to her children, Ronnie Austin. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Austin, and her beloved Aunt Faye Williams (Bart).
Sherry dedicated over 17 years of her life as an Administrative Assistant at Bartlett Public Works. She cherished her job and the relationships she built with her colleagues.
In her free time, Sherry enjoyed attending George Strait concerts, as she was a devoted fan of his music and would act like a teenager at his concerts. She also had a deep affection for Mickey Mouse and made several trips to Disney World. Another one of her favorite pastimes was traveling to the beach, where she would sit on the balcony with her binoculars people watching and searching for dolphins, but mostly people watching.
A celebration of Sherry's life will be held on Monday, July 31, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Germantown Parkway. The public visitation will take place from 1 pm to 2 pm, followed by a service at 2 pm. The graveside ceremony will immediately follow the service. A reception will be held from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, allowing friends and family to come together and share their memories of Sherry.
Sherry Christine Howard will forever be remembered as a loving and strong-willed individual who touched the lives of many. Her legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
