It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen “Steve” Vincent Jones, a man of great honor, faith, integrity, and resilience. He drew his last earthly breath on June 3, 2026, at his home in Lakeland, TN surrounded by his family. An arduous and extensive medical battle was fought, but ultimately, Heaven won. His legacy includes the indelible influence he left on the people that knew him best.
He built a life anchored in hard work, faith, honesty, and the love for his family. Family was of the utmost importance to him. He leaves behind his wife of almost 30 years, Brenda, two daughters, Lindsey Hawkins (Tom) and Erin Curlin, three stepchildren, Kristy Holland, Jacob Mote, and Nathan Mote (Stephanie) and 5 grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Beau, Cale, and Winter, and a brother, Glenn Jones (Anne). He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Larue Jones, both of which he has missed tremendously since their passing.
He and Brenda loved to travel. They so much enjoyed seeing the world together. He said to her in his final days “You are my hero”.
Many of the people influenced by Steve include people he encountered throughout his career. He was an engineer and plant manager, overseeing vast and complicated operations. Not only did he oversee thriving operations, but also many failing plants and corporations would bring him and his expertise advice and knowledge in to breathe life back into their companies so they could flourish again. The plants he was most proud of the work he had accomplished were Protein Technologies and Lucite International.
He was extremely handy and very mechanically inclined. He built several of the homes he lived in over his 71 years. He also maintained his own yard (2 acres) and land (10 acres). He worked on his own vehicles along with his families’ vehicles and refused to pay anyone to repair anything. There is nothing he could not fix.
Steve lived a full life and leaves behind a legacy his family will carry forward. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
The family welcomes friends and family to celebrate the life of Stephen Jones on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, located at 3700 N Germantown Road. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00pm with funeral services at 2:00pm. Graveside services will immediately follow.
