Steven Lee Gurley of Eads, Tennessee passed away on July 22, 2021 at the age of 67. He was born on October 6, 1953 to Durward and Frances Gurley in Hayti, Missouri. In 1971 he moved to California where he graduated from Bonita High School in La Verne. He was united in marriage to Kathy on March 3, 1973 in Oak Glen, California.
Steve served in the United States Air Force for four years as a Medical Assistant, stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska and England Air Force Base in Louisiana.
In June 1980 Steve began his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout the next 24 years he served in several positions at four locations of Bureau facilities retiring in June 2004. One of Steve's great personal achievements was earning his private pilot's license on August 7, 1997 in Santa Maria, California. He then enjoyed taking family and friends on plane rides.
Steve is survived by his wife Kathy of 48 years and his brother Joseph Gurley (Sylvia). He is also survived by his children: Sons Steven D. Gurley (Jennifer), Daniel J. Gurley (Bailey) and three grandsons, Nicolas, Paxton and Blayne.
Steve enjoyed 60's music, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson and watching the NFL. He loved his sons, grandsons and his companion, Shadow. Steve leaves not only family, but friends who have many memories to cherish. A memorable celebration of life will be held at a future date.
