Susan Cross-Zodda

Susan was born on March 18, 1949, in Enoree, South Carolina, to Herman L. Snyder and Melita G. Snyder. She was raised in West Memphis, Arkansas, where she attended West Memphis schools from first through twelfth grade. During her school years, Susan was a cheerleader, an active member of numerous clubs and organizations, and a dedicated Girl Scout who achieved the rank of Ambassador. Along the way, she formed many lifelong friendships that she treasured throughout her life. She later attended and graduated from Memphis State University.

Susan devoted her professional life to healthcare administration, where her leadership, compassion, and commitment made a lasting impact on countless colleagues, patients, and families. She was also a passionate advocate for animals, generously giving her time to rescue organizations by fostering animals, providing transportation, and volunteering at local shelters. Her kindness extended to every life she touched—both human and animal.

Susan lived with remarkable strength, an infectious sense of humor, and an energetic spirit that brightened every room she entered. In her later years, she embraced life to the fullest, creating treasured memories and sharing countless adventures with her beloved husband, Vic Zodda. While she found joy in travel and new experiences, nothing brought her greater happiness than her family. She celebrated every milestone, every achievement, and every moment with unwavering love and immense pride.

Susan is survived by her loving mother, Melita G. Snyder; her devoted husband, Vic Zodda; her son, Chris Maxey (Sara Maxey); her daughter, Cathey Smith (Andy Smith); her stepdaughter, Lena Zodda; her granddaughters, Grace Tant, Megan Tant, and Ava Maxey; her grandsons, Nick Maxey and Andy Maxey; her great-granddaughter, Quinlee; her step grandson, Thomas Zodda; and her brothers, Tommy Snyder and Richard Snyder.

Susan's legacy of love, compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at New Hope Church in Bartlett, Tennessee, on September 26, 2026. Additional details will be shared as they become available.
