

Theodore Iver Jones, age 67, passed away on July 29, 2026, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents Dr. Mark Martin Jones and Shirley Gleason Jones of Nashville, TN. He is survived by his wife Karen; three children, Clifford (Katie) of Temecula, CA, Elizabeth of Houston, TX, and Grant of Memphis, TN; brother Mark Jones (Wendy) of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren, Lachlan and Rhys Jones.
Other survivors include his step-children, Lori Wei (Matt) and Blake Ward, four step-grandchildren, Bayleigh, Molly, Preston, and Hollyn Wei, and numerous beloved nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his feline companion, Ryan, who will miss nipping him every morning and napping in his lap.
Ted was born and grew up in Nashville. He graduated from University School of Nashville where he was a stand-out basketball player and infamous prankster. He then attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, where he majored in History and served in student government. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. He then attended University of Memphis (Memphis State) Law School where he served as President of the Student Bar Association and received his Juris Doctorate in 1984. Since graduation, he practiced law in Memphis.
He has been a well-respected and admired attorney in Memphis over the last several decades and known for his jovial nature and sharp wit. His family will fondly remember his boisterous laugh and dry humor, easily bringing laughter and joy to all who knew him. Friends remember his unending generosity, patience, and kindness. He will be missed by his many friends, colleagues, clients, community, and family.
A Gathering of Family and Friends with food and fellowship will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Lakeland Hall, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, US, on August 3, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Lakeland Hall, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, US, on August 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
