Terry Thomas Owen, Sr.

Terry Thomas Owen Sr., 64 went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2014 after a long illness with Parkinson's disease. He was born on September 5, 1949 in Portland, Maine. He served in the Marine Corps and Navy from 1967-1972. He received a degree in prison management in 1976 and then a nursing degree in 1981 from Shelby State. He then received a Bachelor’s of Science in Hospital Administration from Christian Brothers University in 1984. In 1988 he completed his Juris prudence in law for the University of Memphis. He worked for the Attorney General's Office until 1996 when he then began his private practice. He worked with the alliance Defense Fund in Defending Our First Liberty. He was an active member of Bartlett Baptist Church serving on various committees over the years. Terry was best remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, love of God and then love of others. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Susan Johnson Owen; Son-Terry Owen Jr. (Brenda); Stepdaughters- Angela Liles and Allison Liles, and Stepson- Andrew Liles; Stepgrandson- Matthew Lewis. He is also survived by his brother- Bob Owen of Manchester, Connecticut; sister- Cyndi Owen of Manchester, Connecticut; and Sandy Lorenzini of Portland, Maine and many nieces and nephews. He was greatly loved by his community and will be missed. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett and a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Bartlett Baptist Church with the interment to follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to Bartlett Baptist Church Mission Program.
