Tommy Edward Briggs, 85, was born February 7, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee, and died August 15, 2026. A resident of Bartlett, Tennessee, Mr. Briggs is remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steady devotion to family, country, and work.
Mr. Briggs was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Shobe Briggs of Camden, TN. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Claude Russell Briggs Sr. and Mary Stoeser Briggs; his older brother, Claude Russell Briggs Jr.; and his younger brother, Robert Briggs.
Mr. Briggs graduated from Central Highschool and attended the University of Memphis and UT Knoxville. He served six years in the United States Army from 1964–1969, carrying forward the quiet dignity of that commitment throughout his life. He was last employed with the Cummins Engine Company for twenty five years, a long and faithful tenure reflecting the reliability and perseverance for which he was known.
He is survived by his brother, Charles Briggs of Collierville, TN, and his sister, Karen Elizabeth Thayer.
There will be a graveside service at Camden City Cemetery in Camden, TN on 8/23 at 2pm
