Val "Tip" Deloyce Holcomb Jr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Val (Tip) Holcomb, Jr, who went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 11, 2026 surrounded by family at the age of 75. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the love, laughter, and memories he gave to everyone lucky enough to know him.

Val (Tip) Holcomb, Jr. was born on October 17, 1950 in Memphis, TN. Tip was a 1968 graduate of Frayser High School and attended college at State Technical Institute in Memphis, TN. After college, Tip joined the US Navy Reserves in April of 1969 where he served for five years. Throughout his life, he brought kindess, strength, and warmth to his family and friends. Whether through his smile, sense of humor, caring heart, or endless support, Tip had a way of making people feel loved and welcomed.

Tip's greatest joy was sitting on the porch, drinking coffee, and looking out through the woods viewing the wildlife that roamed his property at his country home in Hardeman County, TN. He also enjoyed traveling with his friends, camping, hunting, fishing, and some of the happiest moments were spent with family and friends making memories that will never be forgotten.

Tip was preceded in death by his parents Val and Ethel Holcomb and his nephew Kevin Murchison. He is survived by his sister Judy Holcomb Wylie (Doug) Bartlett, TN; sister Lil Holcomb Murchison (Russell) Bartlett, TN; niece Lisa Wylie Taylor (Michael) Arlington, TN; nephew Brian Wylie (Jessica) Oakland, TN;

nephew Brad Murchison (Allyson) Arlington, TN; and Ginger Murchison (wife of the late Kevin Murchison) Bartlett, TN. Tip is also survived by 6 great nephews, 5 great nieces, and 1 great great niece.

Although, Tip is no longer with us physically, the love he shared will remain in our hearts forever. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every single day.

All services for Tip will be held at at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens located at 3700 Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Visitation 1:00 - 2:00pm. Funeral service 2:00pm - 3:00pm. Graveside committal with Navy honors 3:00pm - 3:30pm.
