

VERA RUFF PASCHAL went home to be with her Lord Monday. She was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas, January 22, 1920. She moved to Memphis in 1936 where she married George G. Paschal in 1946. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before he died in 1996. She was a secretary bookkeeper for the University of Tennessee-Department of Pediatrics for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, parents, John and Emma Ruff and brother Alfred, a niece Evelyn Ruff Schmidt and a great-niece Tami Thompson. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where through the years she was a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and belonged to the Ladies Guild, Rhino Group, Owls, Lutheran Laymens League, and Lutheran Hour. Her hobbies for many years were crocheting, knitting, sewing and she was always a great cook. She is survived by nieces, Margie Spencer and Carol Carr (John) and a nephew, Robert Ruff (Dolores), 11 great-nieces and nephew, 17 great-great-nieces and nephews and many very dear friends. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3 at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway. Her funeral will be Thursday, August 4 at Messiah Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Germantown Parkway. She has asked that memorials be sent to Messiah Lutheran, Lutheran Laymens League, Lutheran Hour or to the donor’s choice.
