

Walter Ira Longsworth, Jr. "Nick," of Memphis, TN passed away on October 4th, 2016; he was 86. Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, Nick was a graduate of Wabash College and Harvard, MBA. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a son of an American Revolutionary. He moved to Memphis in 1967 as board member and vice-president of Lilly Industrial Coatings. Nick loved sailing, tennis, and golf with friends and family. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather to five beautiful granddaughters. Married to Elke in Wurzburg, Germany, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July 2nd with family and friends at the wedding site. He will be missed by so many with wonderful memories. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Ira Longsworth and Bernice Bell Longsworth, and his sister, Mary Mathis. He is survived by his wife, Elke Longsworth; his daughter, Sigrid Olivia Longsworth-Orr; his son, Walter Ira Longsworth, III "Nick;" his sister, Susan Rogers; and his granddaughters, Lux, Ava, and Ila Orr, and Olivia and Lilly Longsworth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of donor's choice. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 10th from one until the time of the memorial service at three o'clock with a reception to follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133.
