Wayne P. Carroll was born January 23, 1947, in Humboldt, Tennessee to his beloved parents Gilbert “Cecil” and Kathrine Carroll. His life was marked with tragedy early on, as at the age of 15 he lost both of his parents to untimely death in the very same week. Wayne then was entrusted into the care of his Uncle Corbin and Aunt Melba Carroll. Despite such struggles early on, Wayne’s life was a testimony of God’s amazing grace. Wayne came to put his faith in Jesus Christ as a young man and continued to serve the Lord with joy the rest of his life. Wayne loved the Lord. He loved his family. He loved the church. He enjoyed working with his hands, painting, fishing, listening to music, and caring for his dogs. After months of suffering, Wayne was finally healed and went home to be the Lord on March 6, 2014, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was 67 years old. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Sheila, two daughters - Angela Reid of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl, and Mary Kathrine Rhodes of Tunica, MS, a son-in-law, Murry Rhodes of Tunica, MS. Three grandchildren - Skylar Grace Rhodes, Ty Murry Rhodes and Magdalene Kathrine Rhodes, one sister, Diane DeLoach, brother-in-law Charles DeLoach and nephew Charles DeLoach Jr. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be this afternoon, Saturday, March 7, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow in Memorial Gardens.
