Weldon Lee Volner

Weldon Lee Volner, 91, passed away July 12, 2018. He was born January 19, 1927 in Decatur County Tennessee. He had retired from the Memphis City School System and also served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Volner was a member of Leawood East Baptist Church, Cordova, Tennessee and former member of Faith Baptist Church, Atoka, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lura Shelby Volner and three siblings: James H. Volner, Dorothy Armstrong, and Janie Holder.

He is survived by, his brother Billy (Marie) Volner; his only child, Wade (Lila) Volner; four grandchildren, Johnathan (Jheri) Volner, Joseph (Abby) Volner, Zachary Volner, and Graceanna Volner. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Parker Volner, Zeke Volner, Luke Volner, Kaylee Volner and Sadie Volner.

The family will receive friends on Sunday July 15, 2018 from 1 PM until service time at 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mr. Volner may be offered to Faith Baptist Church of Atoka, 900 Simmons Road, Drummonds, Tennessee (901) 837-2683 to their Family Life Center Fund or to the American Heart Association.
