

Isabelle Ann Filak Cameron, age 95, passed away at home on December 4, 2014. Mrs. Cameron was the daughter of Paul Filak and Hedvika Filak (Mylek), both from Czechoslovakia, and was herself a fluent Czech speaker. She grew up on farms in the Granger area and worked for several local businesses before marrying in 1941 to Billy Lee Cameron of Bartlett, Texas. Mr. Cameron preceded her in death in 1979.
She was exceptional in the kitchen, having learned from her mother, who was a sought-after baker well-versed in traditional Czech pastries. She is lovingly remembered for her kindness, her common-sense, and the care and support she gave her family all her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, and a sister. She had one daughter, Sandra Ann Newell (Cameron), who survives her, as well as three grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sybil Frazier of Austin, and her brother Ladislav “Laddie Filak of Sulphur Springs. She was a life-long member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, and will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger following a funeral mass on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10 am. A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm with a rosary at 7pm on Thursday December 11, 2014 at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett.
Memorials may be made to Ss. Cyril and Methodius parish or the charity of your choice. May she rest in peace, rise in glory, and her memory be everlasting.
