A lifelong resident of the Bartlett area, Lynette was born February 28, 1930 to Adolph William Spinn and Selma Neuman Spinn. She spent her childhood in Bartlett and the surrounding countryside, as her family moved several times. She attended Alligator Country School in first grade and then Bartlett schools, graduating in the class of 1947. Lynette married her high school sweetheart, Harold Wayne Morrison, on January 27, 1954. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year.
After high school, Lynette worked at the Gersbach-Wacker Company for 4 years. She also worked at Mikulencak’s Variety Store and Western Auto for shorter periods. She even taught elementary school at the Schwertner school for 6 weeks when the regular teacher had surgery.
Lynette’s main career, however, was at the Bartlett Electric Cooperative, where she worked for 52 years. During that time, she held every position in the office, from clerk to acting manager. She was the first woman elected as vice-president, and then president, of the Texas Electric Accounting Association. She came out of retirement to work part-time for 4 more years at the Heart of Texas Electric Cooperative. After a second retirement, she assisted part-time at Unique Celebrations Flowers and Gifts in Bartlett.
When she wasn’t working, Lynette traveled extensively, visiting numerous U.S. states, 24 countries across 5 continents, and many islands in the South Pacific, Bahamas and Caribbean. She enjoyed arts and crafts, particularly sewing and ceramics, and loved to listen and dance to country music.
Lynette is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Morrison, and three sisters: Elsie Spinn, Lillie Mae Sartor, and Leona Persky.
Lynette is survived by her son, Lloyd Morrison and wife Elizabeth of Springfield, MO, several grand-dogs and grand-cats; and numerous nephews and nieces.
